In the mid-1960s, a group of people mainly from Feilding, Palmerston North, Marton and Dannevirke came together to be the Feilding Christian Fellowship.

Everybody involved in the fellowship wanted "God's Best": not only that the Lord could meet their need, but also that they could care for God and God's building.

Every Labour weekend there was a large conference held, often having up to 600 attendants with a big marquee erected at the Feilding race course to protect from the elements those hearing the Lord's word shared. Often brothers came to speak from the United States.

One brother, De Verne Fromke, shared a lot about the body, soul and spirit, using the illustration of three circles from in Brother Witness Lee's book, The Economy of God. He encouraged the leading ones that the saints in the fellowship, should hear Brother Lee, a Co-worker of Brother Watchman Nee, share the riches and high truths of God's word.

Shortly afterwards, in 1970, Brother Lee came to New Zealand, even to Palmerston North. Some of the believers in the group went to hear his rich ministry, and enjoyed the life exhibited in the meetings.

Within a year or so the group took the stand as the church in Feilding.
